| Back from Munich!! I wish I could have had somewhere to experience it with me!!! I loved it! Yeah so Wednesday night I called my friend to see what time we were leaving to meet some friends in Duesseldorf and she asked if I wanted to go to Munich…Um…well when? Tomorrow. How? With Dr. Huelsey in his car…I said well that’s free travel sure! So an hour before I was supposed to leave for Duesseldorf I was booking a hotel room that I had absolutely no clue how nice, or really where it was. But it was the cheapest thing and it was open for Thursday and Friday night! So I called Dr. H to see when he was leaving and he said "midnight!!" So 8 pm I was in Duesseldorf and this big carnival "Kirmes" until 10:45 then we had to fight traffic and get back to my room to pack which I did in 10 minutes because I was back at 11:50!! Yeah, crazy night! So then it normally takes 5 hours to get to Munich (or a little less the way Dr. H drives….nice car, Autobahn style!) But there was a huge wreck about 2 hours into our trip and just getting through this one town it took about 4 hours…so he was late to his thing and I enjoyed sleeping a little longer! So we got there and I walked around with him to see his team because he is Germany’s vaulting team vet and so he had to oversee the horses there. This was the semi-final before the World Championships. So that was kinda cool to be there since I am not going to be here during the World Championships. Well then I had to take a train to my hotel and Dr. H gave me my bag from his car and said "if you walk straight out of here and take a left, the train should be down at the end of that road, enjoy your time, heres your bag!" Wow, thanks!!! Haha so after walking around the block and coming back to my starting point I asked someone and found the little train station! I was totally at the mercy of other people because I just had the name of my hotel and the address and addresses aren’t shown on the train plan…so I just took a train to central Munich!! Then I just started walking…thankfully I walked across the street and I found myself on Bayerstrasse! And so I thought well it’ll be good for my legs to walk, so I kept on walking and not very far down the road I looked up and saw
"H
O
T
E
L"
on a big sign and under it said "Stachus." Yeap, that was my hotel! So I got settled in and it was only like 11am! I had the whole day ahead to do whatever, so I went shopping! I did a little exploring too so that I wouldn’t get lost later and that was fun but I walked the whole day everywhere and now I am kind of feeling it! But anyhow, that was a fun day, but Friday was better.
So Friday I went on this free "New Munich English tour!" That was kinda cool to be with people who spoke my own language for a change. If you want to see pictures well you should get in touch with me and I’ll show you all the places I saw, I loved Munich! It was a great change from my second home in Northern Germany! I love South Germany but it was of course very touristy, but still really nice. Well this tour was pretty long over 3 hours and we walked everywhere, but our tour guide was really cool and I had a fun time with that. I also met 2 guys from Canada…(hello Brian and Chris! Hows Italy?) And after the tour we walked back in the same direction and I helped them find a bag to bring some souvenirs back…that was kinda fun because usually I’m the one who can’t understand everything because all of my friends here are German. But I actually used my second language to help someone and that was fun! See, it does come in handy sometimes to know a different language! So then we parted ways, but they invited me to go to another tour kind of thing called a pub crawl. But I didn’t think that I would do that because I already had plans, but when those fell through I thought, what am I going to do by myself my last evening in Munich??? Why not!! Better than Thursday night sitting in a café by myself and meeting this weird Pakistanian trying to buy me food!! So I went and we had a great time, well I did at least. I even met a guy from UGA!!! He said "ya’ll" too!! Because everyone I had met came from CA or Washington…so it was cool to meet someone from the south. Plus I don’t think I have ever really had met a whole lot of people from Canada, so it was cool to talk and hang out with Brian and Chris! I got to be silly in English for a change!! So after going to 4 pubs/bars and a club and enjoying hanging out with English speaking people we went to good old Burger King because we were hungry and then said goodbye after they walked me to my hotel!! That was very nice! I was so thankful for a hotel room to myself though, hearing about the hostels I am glad I couldn’t get a bed in one of them, it would have been a whole lot cheaper, but I was totally alone and having a bed and quiet room to myself was very nice!
So my ride back was interesting I was supposed to go back with Dr. H but he had to stay another night and so he got me a train to get back which had a problem and I had to switch onto another train and ride standing up for 1 ½ hours to Frankfurt then change trains to Cologne which then I had a friend who came to pick me up there because that is where she lives. So that was good because I was going to get lost switching so many trains. So I was thankful that it worked out. So then we went out on Saturday night with some other girls and enjoyed my last Saturday in Germany! So now that is the basic jist of what I did in Munich…there’s more stories though! But I guess this will be my last xanga entry in Germany. I will be back on Thursday evening and will give you peeps a call!! You know who you are and I love you all and I look forward to seeing ya’ll! Be good until then!
Auf Wiedersehen!!!!!!!
Bis Spaeter!
